Hayden Wallpaper Tutorial

Ok so today I made this wallpaper of Hayden Panettiere and I have decided to make a tutorial on how to make it. Made in PSPX though I am sure that it can be translated (expect maybe part of the text am unsure with other programs).

Click here to see full size.

WARNING: It is graphic heavy so do keep that in mind before clicking on the link.

Ok, let's start of with this picture of Hayden I got from http://www.hayden-p.com/.

Ok, let's color the picture. I used a very simple basic color process on this picuture. I started with a new raster layer set at Exclusion 40% and filled with #081540 to get this.

Next I added another new raster layer and set this on at Soft Light 73% and filled it with #C2F0FE to get this.

Duplicate you base and drag to the top and set this new layer to Soft Light to get your final color for the pic and it should look something like this.

But of course feel free to use what ever color works best for whatever subject you decide to use.

Now we need a background for our lovely image to go one. Open a new a new picture set at the size of your screen. Mine is 1024x768. I choose this lovely texture by katrin and I recolored it to a light pink to match her lips (where I got the inspiration for my overall color).

Then I took this scratch texture here and sized it and fit as a new layer and set it to Soft Light to get this.

Alright now paste the picture as a new layer and place in the desired place that you want. I got this.

Now lets soften those corners. Using your Selection tool, set at rounded rectangle select around the outside of the picture of Hayden. Invert the selection by going to Selections>Invert and cut off those corners to get this.

Lets add another layer to that to make it more interesting. While still keeping it the same selected items invert it back by going once agian to Selections>Invert. Now open up a new raster layer under the picture of Hayden and by going to Selections>Modify>Expand expand the selection ring around the picture and fill it with a complimenting color. It should look something like this.

Now that still looks boring so opening you Materials Properties pick a slightly darker color than the one you used to fill the layer and pick out and interesting texture (I used asphalt) and fill in right over the color layer you just made to get this.

Now we need some text. I used a font called Shadowed Black and set it to 150. I set my background and fill color as light pick onceagian with the aspalt texture and set the foreground and stroke color as a complimenting dark pink color. It should look something like this .  And you should get a result similar to this.

Then using the font Pierre Tryout set at 100 I added her name to this the final product of this.

Hopefully what I said made a bit of sense.  I hope that it can help you make something awesome and I would love to see what you come up with.

That's awesome :D I'm a bit confused, though - when you dragged the base up to the top of the image in one of the first steps, did you set it to soft light or something? Or did you just leave it? Because wouldn't dragging the base image up over the colour layers defeat the purpose of the colour layers?
If I misunderstood I apologise, I'm supposed to be doing an essay and my brain is fried :p
YAY for PSP tutorials! :D
